#import error with MSXML4

I'm just starting to experiement with using XML in VC++ (in Visual Studio
2003) using "smart pointer" classes, but I've run into a problem I'm unable
to solve.

Copying the example in the MSXML SDK, I've added to my source file the line:

#import <msxml4.dll>
using namespace MSXML2;

but when I try to build my project, I get the error:

d:\Visual Studio .NET 2003\Vc7\include\comdef.h(0) : fatal error C1083:
Cannot open type library file: 'c:\windows\system32\msxml4.dll\281': Error
loading type library/DLL.

I have installed the MSXML4 DLLs and SDK, and have the file "msxml4.dll" as
well as "msxml4a.dll" and "msxml4r.dll" in my "\windows\system32" directory.

Does anybody know what the cause of this error might be?

Any advice would be most welcome - I've been stuck with this error all day
and can't, for the life of me, see what the problem might be.

Thanks in advance. Please reply here, not by e-mail.

Regards,

Harry.
