structure of XML file based

Good Morning,

I'm new to XML & SQL Server . I have a new module in hand , which has to run
in the installer. If it is a fresh installation, this part need not be
executed. Else,
the older database has to be read & the data from there has to be stored
into the newer database. The number of tables in the source / target
databases can differ & this information has to be taken from XML file. I
have to define the structure for this XML file which gives the column
mapping & default values for any new columns in the target database.

I look forward Any good links/sample applications.

Thanks,
AK
