processing XML using XSLT/DOM/SAX

Hi,

I have a fixed length flat file (just the values and not name-value
pair). I read a article on DevX :-

http://www.devx.com/getHelpOn/10MinuteSolution/20362

where the case taken was exactly like mine. Now i converted the flat
file into XML with each record in the tag <record></record> using VB
FSO.

Now i need to process this XML file where each fixed length record is
under <record></record> tag.
I read that XSLT is OK for shallow recursion but is not advisable if
the records or there length exceeds certain value.

After that i shifted to processing the XML file using DOM. But i
couldnt get any help on how to process records in the XML i created
where there is no name-value pair but fixed length values.

Now i have another XML file where in i have defined the name and length
of each field in the record.

Please advise me on how to process using these two files. And what
would be advisable to process XSLT/DOM or SAX ??

Thanks
Vinit
