process an array (mv.string) in XSL?

Some of the data returned from a query to our SPS2001-database is in
mv.string datatype. An array, that is.

If I just present the mv.string-data as a string I get a string with all the
elements, but with no separators between the array elements.

So how can I process and present the array correctly? I would like to
present the array as a semi-colon separated string.

This presents just a string with no separators:

<xsl:value-of select="a:propstat/a:prop/f:professioncode">

professioncode is a mv.string. 0-many items.

Can anyone help?
