There is a mystery.
Certain data file cannot be retrieved using xmlhttp.
Let's say I have three servers, one local and two at remote locations and
one server, say, server A can be accessed w/o any problem but one, say B
cannot be accessed. The server B has different text files and only certain
files cannot be accessed. The local server uses dsl to get access but if I
use dial up, those files can be accessed even for the server B. I use cable
modem and still I can access the server B files w/o any problems. The data
file size that can be accessed is about 1KB and even the file with 2KB cannot
be accessed.
So in summary, the following combinations do not work:
DSL at local server, server B at remote, data files larger than 1KB.
All other combinations are ok.
Can anybody tell me what I have to check? I reset modems and routers
several times, changed static IP addresses, tried with different OS Win2K and
Xp, but the above combinations do not work.
The http I use is simply:
http://ip address/directory/test.txt
I know this may not be http or xml problem but I have exhausted possible
testing (tracert or ping are not helpful, either, because they are
interrupted somewhere in the network). Any hint will be appreciated.
