If its indeed failing at object creation statement, it doesn't have to do
anything with SSL. Just check if you are able to create instances of this
class from, say, Visual Basic.
Btw, you were supposed to use xmlhttp within client scripts. For server side
usage, use SERVERXMLHTTP class.
