Ahh - you could try:

If Object Is Null

as opposed to

If Object Is Nothing

I think that IsNull() is used for variant data variables as opposed to Objects (eg. where Null is in
a database field).

Thanks Chris! That worked perfectly.  I wasn't thinking of JavaScript, I was simply referring to the
"detailed" MSDN documentation for selectSingleNode...

Return Value
Object. Returns the first node that matches the XSL or XPath query. If no nodes match the query, it
returns Null.

Now, wouldn't you assume that you could use IsNull() to see if the object returned Null?  I think
that last sentence should read... If no nodes match the query, it returns Nothing. It certainly
would have saved me a lot of headaches.
