Thanks, Martin
When I search the XML file, our "Stars Application Database", I do see system files (with a name like dsStars) that list all my key fields (like ProjectID, UserID, etc.), and phrases in -that- file that say "PrimaryKey=TRUE". If there is a key in a table, would it appear right with the table and field list, or would it be referenced in some of the system files, see below
Right where my table and field names appear for each table, there is -no- "PrimaryKey" reference
I am using the xml file (from the mssql db of about 26 tables) to create Crystal Reports (CR 9.0) and CR is choking on me using Left Outer Joins (LOJ). I have a few relationships where I need to see all records in my master table, regardless of whether it has no match in some other tables. I did a simple test in CR, where I just used 3 tables, a master and two child tables off the master. I put two LOJ's fromt the master to the child tables, and when I tried to save, it tried to update the data, and told me it couldn't create a recordset
I'm thinking it is either a limitation of CR and its XML driver, and possibily includes a problem of doing LOJ's with no keys coming through. I'm am trying to locate CR's forum(s) on their site to ask more questions. I am also trying to get the XML into MS Access2000, but that is another story
Michael
