There is absolutely no point in trying to learn XHTML 2. It's arguable as to whether there is even much point for experts to be working with it. If you want to learn and use XHTML, then use XHTML 1.0 Transitional. There's no point in using the others and 1.1 or 2 are especially problematic. c.i.w.a.h is probably a better newsgroup to discuss HTML & XHTML.
