Altova Online Training has been completely redesigned based on customer feedback and is officially out of its initial beta testing phase. With over 50 chapters, and new courses being added often, users can access interactive, video-enhanced lessons, step-by-step video tutorials, technical notes, interactive quizzes, and links to important resources.

Descriptions of each Altova training course are outlined below:

• XMLSpy – This beginner level module provides an introduction to XML technology and the XMLSpy XML editor. Users are taken on a brief tour of the XMLSpy user interface and learn to create an XML Schema as well as an XML document based on the schema. Users are also shown how to enter data in Grid and Text Views, perform well-formedness and validity checks, add new elements, and modify the schema while working within the XML document.
• StyleVision® – Beginner and intermediate level modules give users an introduction to the StyleVision interface and its functionality, including interactive tutorials for transforming XML, XBRL, and database content into eye-catching HTML, RTF, PDF, and Word 2007 (OOXML) documents, plus intuitive Authentic® forms. For advanced users, there are also step-by-step instructions for using the visual stylesheet designer to output XHTML, import XSLT, use variables and user-defined templates and elements, and more.
• MapForce® – This course includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced level modules that provide an introduction to the MapForce data mapping tool, including navigating the user interface and step-by-step tutorials for mapping databases, EDI, flat files, and Excel 2007 files. For advanced users, the MapForce course also provides step-by-step tutorials for generating data mapping code (including C#, C++, Java, XSLT, and XQuery) and integrating that code into an application.
• MissionKit® / XBRL– This course is geared for both developers and financial professionals getting a head start working with XBRL technology. The comprehensive five-module course provides users with an introduction to XBRL, including an overview of the XBRL creation process and the Altova MissionKit. Users can learn how to create an extension XBRL taxonomy in XMLSpy, map financial data from a backend system to a taxonomy and convert it to a compliant XBRL instance document using MapForce, and then create a XBRL report using StyleVision.
