Topic: Modeling using NIEM, where to start with UModel?
Posted: Wednesday, February 4, 2015 9:30:09 PM
Hello,

I'm new to Altova missionkit and Umodel but I'm trying to use UModel and NIEM-UML profile to start modeling using the NIEM (see NIEM-UML info here: https://www.niem.gov/technical/Pages/niem-uml.aspx).

I have MissionKit 2013 R2 which I thought should come with the NIEM. I don't see it. I've tried importing it from http://www.omg.org/spec/NIEM-UML/1.0/ using .xmi file but receive 44 errors like:

- cannot find 'base_' property for Stereotype ". Assuming MetaClass 'Element'
- Cannot set link 'importedPackage' for PackageImport! ('Class' is no kind of 'Package'!)
- Cannot set link 'packageImport' for Profile 'NIEM_Common_Profile'! (a 'PackageImport' needs a 'importedPackage'.)
- Cannot set link 'packageImport' for Profile 'Model_Package_Description_Profile'! (a 'PackageImport' needs a 'importedPackage'.)
- Cannot set link 'packageImport' for Profile 'NIEM_PSM_Profile'! (a 'PackageImport' needs a 'importedPackage'.)
- Cannot set link 'packageImport' for Profile 'NIEM_PIM_Profile'! (a 'PackageImport' needs a 'importedPackage'.)
- Cannot set link 'packageImport' for Profile 'NIEM_UML_Profile'! (a 'PackageImport' needs a 'importedPackage'.)

UModel created folders under my Root regarding NIEM (e.g. "Model_Package_Description_Profile", "NIEM_Common_Profile", etc.) but those folders don't contain any NIEM elements. Only some basic types like "AssociationType", "AugmentationType", etc.

I've tried to search online but can't find anything. The webinar on niem.gov (https://www.niem.gov/training/Pages/webinars.aspx) has a different modeler tool that contains all of the NIEM elements.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
