Search Engine Marketing Data Analyst

Altova uses Search Engine Marketing (SEM) to advertise Altova software to prospective customers world-wide. To further efforts in managing its SEM campaigns, Altova, Inc. is currently looking to hire a Search Engine Marketing Data Analyst.

Your mission:

As a key member of the marketing team, you will be responsible for increasing Altova’s visibility and marketing effectiveness on the Web. You will manage Altova’s Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search, and MSN / Live Search pay per click (PPC) accounts. As the ideal candidate, you will be part sleuth, part analyst, and part systems expert. Additionally, you will have a marketing mindset, a positive outlook, a proactive approach, and the ability to multitask, be highly organized, goal oriented, hard working, self-motivated, and a team player.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage Altova’s PPC accounts on Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search, and MSN / Live Search
  • Measure conversion rates of SEM campaigns using data and cost analysis and refine the campaigns continuously
  • Analyze Web site traffic, generate management reports, and continually recommend improvements
  • Suggest new approaches to enhance Altova’s SEM effectiveness
  • Recommend annual SEM budget and manage SEM campaigns to the approved amount

Required skills / experience:

  • BS or substantial technical experience
  • Expertise with SEM and PPC advertising
  • Experience with SQL, data analysis, and data mining in relational databases
  • Experience with Web analytics

Desired skills / experience:

  • Ability and motivation to quickly reach a level of knowledge in new areas
  • Highly organized and responsible
  • Familiarity with some of the following technologies: XML, XML Schema, XSLT 1 or 2, XQuery, XPath 1 or 2, DTD, XSL:FO, UML, SQL, EDIFACT/X12, Java, C#, VB, JavaScript
  • Familiarity with the blogosphere, RSS, and Web 2.0 technologies
  • Experience in the marketing of software development tools

Online Training Specialist

Altova provides world-class online training on XML technologies and the innovative application of Altova software to the challenges development teams face daily. In its effort to re-launch its online training program, Altova, Inc. is currently looking to hire an Online Training Specialist.

Your responsibilities:

  • Assume primary responsibility for creating professional Web-based training for automated delivery to customers
  • Develop and adapt courseware in support of Web-based training and changes in the product line over time
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to define and create classes
  • Interact with students and development managers outside of class to gather feedback and new requirements, support Sales, and assist further learning goals
  • Occasional travel may be required for tradeshow participation (majority of work is on-site and on-line)

Skills desired:

  • Ability to communicate complex subjects clearly at a level appropriate to a particular audience
  • Top notch writing
  • Comfortable speaking to groups
  • Ability and motivation to quickly reach a level of knowledge in new areas
  • Highly organized and responsible

Required background:

  • BS or substantial technical experience
  • 3 to 7 years experience developing and delivering high quality technical instruction
  • Experience developing technology curricula across multiple disciplines
  • Working knowledge of XML and related standards
  • Hands-on OO programming experience
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring or consulting via Web or other distance learning technologies
