XMLSpy is the industry leading XML editor and part of the Altova MissionKit®, an integrated suite of XML, database, and UML tools. With the release of Version 2011r2, XMLSpy expands its cutting edge chart and report creation capabilities introduced in Version 2011 with even more functionality for visualizing XML data. XMLSpy v2011r2 also delivers additional resources for working with XML Schemas, functionality for embedding external files in XML, support for customizable documentation generation, and much more.

• Embedding External Files in XML – To meet numerous customer requests, Altova XMLSpy can now embed an external file - such as an image - as encoded text directly in an XML document. This new feature gives users the option to package all required data from various external files together in one large XML document, providing even more flexibility for working with XML.
  
  
• Customizable Documentation Generation – The release of Version 2011r2 extends XMLSpy’s powerful XML Schema, WSDL, and XBRL documentation generation capabilities by enabling users to customize documentation templates using Altova StyleVision. Users can now do anything from simply adding their company’s logo and branding to completely changing the way the documentation is presented. XMLSpy 2011r2 also ships with several new, ready-made documentation templates that may be used as-is or modified further in StyleVision.
  
  
• Enhanced Chart Creation Functionality – XMLSpy 2011r2 adds new, advanced capabilities for creating charts to analyze XML data. Several new formats are supported, including stacked bar, area, stacked area, and candlestick charts. New chart formatting options include support for chart overlays that combine multiple chart types in one image, background images and color gradients, configurable axis label positions, and more.
  
  
• Advanced XML Schema Editing Functionality – XML Schema developers will benefit from several new features in XMLSpy 2011r2, such as one-click sorting of schema components in the graphical Schema View. This ability to list components alphabetically is especially useful when working with large schemas and for quickly understanding schemas created by another developer or team.
  
  New XML Schema refactoring support helps developers quickly locate all the instances of a global element or type across a schema – and all imported and included schemas – and then rename that component in each place it occurs.
  
  Release 2 of XMLSpy 2011 also provides intelligent support for changing element types and base types by preserving any facets that are compatible with the updated type, making it that much easier to update schemas as they evolve.
