SemanticWorks® 2008 (September 12, 2007) SemanticWorks 2008, Altova's visual RDF/OWL editor for the Semantic Web, includes a new entry helper mechanism to ease ontology editing tasks.
New features in SemanticWorks 2008 include:
- Details entry helper – allows users to easily and quickly select the properties for each instance of a class using context-sensitive drop down menus.

SemanticWorks™ 2007 (October 24, 2006) New features in Version 2007 include:
- Create new instances – of a particular class directly in the class detail view.
- Automatic property assignment – for mandatory properties when creating new instances of a class.
- Auto-generation of owl:allDifferent statements – for multiple selected instances at once.
- Color coding – support for assigning different colors to resources from different ontologies.
- Ability to hide annotations and comments – to concentrate on the structures of large ontology overviews.

SemanticWorks™ 2006 (October 3, 2005) Initial release of Altova SemanticWorks, an innovative Semantic Web development tool that allows developers to graphically create and edit Resource Description Framework (RDF) instance documents, RDF Schema (RDFS) vocabularies, and Web Ontology Language (OWL) ontologies, with these features: - Visual document creation – provides an intuitive, graphical interface and drag-and-drop functionality for creating and editing RDF, RDFS, OWL Lite, OWL DL, and OWL Full documents.
- Intelligent entry helpers – offers context-sensitive editing choices based on RDF or OWL dialects so valid documents can be created quickly and easily.
- Syntax and semantics checking – verifies syntax and semantic consistency depending on the selected conformance level (RDF, RDFS, OWL Lite/DL/Full).
- Code generation – auto-generates the corresponding RDF/XML or N-triples code based on visual RDF/OWL design.
- Semantic Web documentation – allows printing of graphical RDF and OWL files to document ontologies.
