DatabaseSpy® 2008 release 2 (April 29, 2008) As Altova’s youngest application, DatabaseSpy continues to gain significant functionality with each release. DatabaseSpy 2008 Release 2 adds these new features:
- SQL Refactoring Menu – lets you reformat existing SQL statements and scripts to facilitate moving scripts between SQL dialects, for instance.
- SQL Formatting Dialog – lets you define personal preferences for formatting new SQL statements as they are entered.
- Graphical Design Editor Enhancements. – new operations to create keys, indexes, and constraints, making it easier to define table relationships in the design view.
- More User-Selectable Options – gives users more extensive control over SQL auto-completion.

DatabaseSpy® 2008 Service Pack 1 (November 6, 2007) DatabaseSpy 2008, Altova's multi-database management, query, and design tool, includes many important planned and frequently requested enhancements, all of which add up to creating a huge increase in functionality.
New features in DatabaseSpy 2008 SP1 include: - Expanded support for IBM DB 2 – allows users to connect to IBM DB2 databases running on System i (formerly iSeries) and System z platforms.
- German language version – allows German-speaking users to access all menus, dialog boxes, messages, and Help system in the German language.

DatabaseSpy® 2008 (September 12, 2007) - Creating and editing database views – allows users to create virtual tables from the result sets of database queries, thus organizing data in a convenient and customized manner.
- Support for Stored Procedures – allows users to examine, create, edit, and execute stored procedures in the SQL Editor.
- Database content editing – enables users to retrieve and edit the content of existing database tables, add new rows to insert data, or delete entire rows in all supported databases.
- New Data Inspector window – allows users to preview large XML and text fields in databases.
- Enhanced SQL auto-completion capability – provides customizable, context-sensitive entry-helpers for auto-completion of SQL statements.

DatabaseSpy® 2007 release 3 (May 30, 2007) - Enhanced views of tables containing XML data in the Online Browser – columns that contain XML data are identified in the database tree, and the online browser indicates any XML Schemas used to validate them.
- Design editor XML enhancements – new columns containing XML data can now be added to database tables via the DatabaseSpy design editor (exclusively for IBM DB2 9 in this release).
- View of registered XML Schemas in the Online Browser tree view – XML Schemas registered in XML-enabled databases are now displayed in hierarchical form (only for IBM DB2 9 in this release).
- Option to send XML Schemas for view in XMLSpy® 2008 – use the Online Browser right-click context menu to send any XML Schema to XMLSpy, where it is opened in Schema View for intuitive graphical display and editing.
- Management of XML Schemas registered in the database – add or drop XML Schemas from the database., or decompose an XML Schema for applications that require shredding – or decomposing – XML data into multiple columns in database tables (exclusively for IBM DB2 9 in this release).
- Customization of SQL autocompletion suggestions – lets users modify the auto-completion suggestion menu to create a customized list, keeping auto-completion pop-up lists to a manageable size while offering only the suggestions individual users prefer.
